Why nervous patients need not worry at our Stourbridge practice
If you’ve put off seeing the dentist for a few weeks, months, or even years, you’re not alone. The national smile survey revealed that a huge percentage of adults in the UK have not visited the dentist in over two years and we are betting the main reason for this is nerves and anxiety. Dental fear is a real phenomenon and we’d be helping nobody if we didn’t acknowledge it.
With this in mind, our dentists have all been trained to put nervous patients at ease, explain examination results and procedures in language that is easy to understand, and offer appropriate pain relief and sedation, so that no patient needs to worry that the treatment they are going to receive will hurt.
Why it’s important to keep your regular dental appointments
Even with the best will in the world, it is simply impossible to remove all food deposits from your teeth all of the time through brushing alone, particularly if your teeth are not in perfect alignment. Food deposits that remain on the teeth can lead to decay or gum disease; both of which can have serious consequences and require heavily invasive dental action if left untreated.
We are pretty sure that ignoring your dental problems is not easier than waiting until you’re suffering from extreme tooth pain or contracting serious health conditions through not visiting your dentist. Gum disease has been linked to heart disease, stroke, and diabetes!
How we can help put you at ease
Here at our Stourbridge practice, we have designed our treatment rooms and waiting areas to be comfortable, modern and very clean. Our friendly team will be on hand to explain what’s going to happen during your appointment with us and put you in a fully informed position so you know all the options available to you, the consequences and the after-care procedures of each.
You’re welcome to bring a friend or family member with you, should you want somebody familiar in the room with you. If you would like us to address all questions to your chaperone, we can do that.
As we practice pain-free dentistry here, you can expect full pain relief to be provided for any procedure that causes discomfort. Our dentists are all highly professional, trained and experienced in providing appropriate pain relief. Sedation is also possible, should you need something a little extra.
If you’re not registered with us but are in need of emergency care, please get in touch and we’ll explain what you need to do to see a dentist. If you have more time before you need to see a dentist, please give us a call to book a consultation at your leisure. This will be a friendly appointment where you’ll be able to ask any questions you may have.
