Can Invisalign Fix My Jaw?
While Invisalign is first and foremost a teeth-straightening treatment, it has lots of other surprising benefits – not least for your oral health. In this post, our Stourbridge dentists look at what some of these are and the reasons why you might be interested in Invisalign treatment overall.
What is Invisalign and how does it work?
It first helps to know a bit about these clever braces. Removable, clear, comfortable – the benefits just keep on coming. Patients love how easy they are to put in and take off and they’re extremely discreet. All you need to do is change the pair you wear every few weeks to keep your teeth moving little by little.
What can Invisalign fix?
They can generally straighten teeth, and target problems like overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite, and both gaps and crowding. For instance, some bite problems put pressure on the jaw and cause pain and discomfort. By aligning the teeth, Invisalign can help correct the problem. In fact, teeth straightening can often prevent and correct TMJ.
How long does treatment take?
It varies on a case-by-case basis – anywhere from 6 months to over 24 months. When choosing Lion for your Invisalign treatment, our Stourbridge dentists can give you an idea of how long treatment should take and you’ll be able to see a 3D computer-generated image of your finished smile with our iTero scanner, too.
Does Invisalign hurt?
No, though some patients do remark that changing sets of aligners can feel a little uncomfortable as the teeth adjust. Obviously, there are no brackets, wires or elastics involved with Invisalign, so it can be very freeing and feel a lot comfier than fixed braces.
Why choose Lion?
Dr Francesca Dash leads our Invisalign treatments. She was the first woman in the UK to achieve Top 50 provider status and has treated hundreds of patients over the years. Our practice is state-of-the-art and we’ll work with you to ensure you stay on track with treatment and get the results you deserve.
What alternatives are there?
There are lots of different types of brace on the market, but we find Invisalign to be the leading teeth-straightening treatment. As it helps predict your results, treatment is highly reliable and patients cite the discreet transparent brace as being a big reason to try it out.
